On January 2, 2014, the inaugural post titled Welcome To: On The Wire described the blog as a forum for opinion about the Charter of Rights and the criminal law with an emphasis on privacy issues. As we approach the end of six years online I am pleased to announce a new welcome.

Calgary criminal lawyer and colleague, Heather Ferg, has joined On The Wire as a guest contributor. After completing undergraduate degrees in english and political science at the University of Calgary, Ms Ferg received her law degree from the University of Alberta and began her career as an associate with Evans Fagan Rice McKay in Calgary, Alberta. She practices criminal law exclusively and appears regularly before the courts of Alberta and Saskatchewan as well as the Supreme Court of Canada. She is a partner at McKay Ferg LLP.
